GPPR Volunteers

Gorgeous Volunteers!

Every team is required to provide a volunteer in order to start the race. (Not required for solo runner.) Volunteers are crucial to the safety, as well as the joy, of the Gorgeous Portland Pub Relay! There are two ways for teams to meet their volunteer requirement:

Recruit a volunteer from your teams' friends/family/etc. Teams have until July 18 to recruit a volunteer. (Teams registering after 7/18/20 should have their volunteer information ready with registration.)
A limited number of teams may Sponsor a volunteer via a $100 contribution to a local Charity Partner. 100% of your contribution goes to the nonprofit. This option will likely Sell Out!

Recruit a volunteer

Race volunteers generally have at least as much fun as the runners! Teams should recruit a volunteer who:

Will be available on August 8 for up to 4 hours between 10:00 am-6:00 pm;
Is 18 years old or older;
Can get themselves to their volunteer assignment. (Some assignments may be in two locations, and require driving in between); and,
Can stand for all or most of the volunteer time.

Volunteers are stationed either at an Exchange to direct vans and runners, on course to direct runners, or at the start or finish for set-up, operations, and take-down. (Unfortunately, they are not suitable for bringing children.)

Volunteers will be sent a link on Sunday, July 19 to sign up for their shift. In order for teams to fulfill their volunteer requirement, your volunteer must sign up for a position!

Volunteers are invited, and encouraged, to join us for the celebration at the finish party at McMenamins Tavern & Pool and receive a free beer, cider or zero proof option.

Sponsor A volunteer

When you Sponsor a volunteer, you are supporting great nonprofit organizations and schools in the communities we run through. 100% of your Sponsorship funds are contributed to the organization providing your team's volunteer. Contributions are made to Charity Partners based on their volunteer capacity.

The Gorgeous Portland Pub Relay is proud to benefit JOIN. JOIN is dedicated to supporting the efforts of homeless individuals and families to move off the streets and into permanent housing. JOIN’s unique and highly effective model helps between 25 and 30 homeless people, including families with children, move into permanent housing each week.

Gorgeous Series wants to support schools and nonprofits in the areas where we run. If you know of a Charity Partner in the area, let us know - we'd love to learn more about them!
